The Law Society Gazette reported that the Government may bring forward plans to force all divorcing couples to consider mediation before going to court to resolve differences. There is little detail yet to say how it will work, how will it be enforced? What will happen if one party refuses to take part?
If the Government is minded to use compulsory mediation in family matters will it then extend it to other areas of the law? Interestingly, according to a report in the Times if couples do divorce then they should choose their court carefully!
See my earlier comments on compulsory mediation and Government promotion of mediation.
