This was a difficult mediation with no co-operation from the other side. The mediator was fundamental in turning this round enabling us to reach a settlement by the end of the day.

This was my first experience of mediation and would definitely recommend to anyone who finds themselves in dispute, especially before the costs in a case escalate. We found Philip easy to communicate with and appreciated his non-legal speak, uncomplicated, straightforward, logical approach to the matter.

An outstanding Mediator dealing with an intractable problem. Patient, relaxed but determined to ensure a level playing field between the warring neighbours. First class. You may struggle to find a better mediator in a really difficult case.
Julian Shaw, Counsel and County Court Recorder, St Johns Buildings Chambers, Nov 2010
Phil recently mediated in a case of mine in which my client was in dispute with his former partners in relation to his outgoing entitlement. It involved far more than accountancy issues. Legal as well as moral and ethical issues were raised which all went to make a heady cocktail. Employing a calm, measured and realistic approach – which spread to the parties – Phil managed to bridge what appeared to be a wide divide and helped the parties to a settlement. I think that he also helped the parties restore their previous relationship, at least to some extent.

I had a liquidator client who was pursuing a claim against a former director in respect of allegedly unlawful payments made into his pension fund. The dispute had dragged on for many years and seemed intractable. A barrister contact recommended Hesketh Mediation Services to my firm. The sum in dispute was not large, but my previous mediation experience had always taken at least a day with significant costs being incurred both in preparation for it and on the day itself. I was told that a telephone mediation was generally much quicker, meant that the parties’ minds were concentrated and was therefore was more cost effective.
That proved to be the case – an agreement satisfactory to all sides was reached in a little over two hours. Phil’s assistance in achieving this was invaluable and the fact it was dealt with via telephone really did seem to speed up the process. I’d be very happy to recommend it for future cases.
